Great shot, was hoping to see the eyes, but without the eyes its just as interesting.

I think I photographed one of this species in AZ. A person we met there had one as a pet also.

She doesn't really "do" much. They're pretty still creatures, until it's time to eat, then she perks up.

They make great pets. You only have to feed them about once a week. They don't make any noise. You don't have to walk them. They don't shed all over everything. Their cages need cleaning only about every month or two, etc.

Yes, I do handle her, occasionally. But not too often because it's more for my benefit than hers. She doesn't "need" human interaction and so tolerates it, but does not require it.

Great pets!

my gosh, that's an amazing sight. what does she actually do, re being a pet? not meaning to be nosey, but do you touch her & pick her up etc? Does she seem to know you? or do spiders know one person from another?, I know very little about them. My DH would freak out at this, as he has arachanaphobia, however you spell it, and can't stand even the webs or smallest spiders. OTOH I always pick them up with a container (if they get in the house) and put them outside, - never kill them, don't kill anything if I can help it (except garden slugs)

Thanks. Yes, this is "one" of many tarantulas that I have as pets. She is venomous, but is not a threat to humans. She's a docile and hardy tarantula. Great pet.
