The Sun Sets over Splash Magic

This photo is a bittersweet. I finally figured out how to capture a reflection better on sky and water - by stitching two photos into a panorama. This was our final night in Northumberland. After the devasating flood much of the campground took some time to recover (I hope I never have to experience flood cleanup again - it was grim). Our site had never been stable, but the owner insisted that we return to our origional site or leave - which we did along with two other couples in the same dilemma. I still have some great flood shots to share with TLF, but we now have new positions near Hannibal, Missouri - new scenery, new memories to make. It's a good thing!

Thank you for your comments, Karen, Talsi and Alandra. Yup - we ducked hurricanes last year - and now a flood this year, on the Susquehanna River - I think that's enough for awhile.

I had to work with this one a bit to keep the balance, that's why I chose to frame it with three levels of plain and graduated transparencies to keep the sun's colors in proportion. I'm glad you all enjoyed it.

Fabulous scene, Vicki, and I also admired how the light extends at the upper and lower framing, - very effective.

Am also very sorry to hear about the upheaval! I had been wondering if you were affected, as heard about the flooding of that river (on CNN news) and was sure that was the name of the river you'd mentioned being near. (I can't spell it or remember it, but it began with S : ) - I spoke of you several times to hubby, hoping you were okay.

Anyway, it sounds as if there might be a silver lining to the clouds after all, so I hope all works out well for you in the new surroundings. keep in touch.

Thank you both for your comments. I thought it was a rather nice finale! We made some great new friends (some of whom may yet join us over here if the situation continues to deteriorate) in Pennsylvania who called a little while ago to see how we were doing. It may prove to be an even better opportunity than we first expected.
