Bald Eagle at Sunrise

hi everyone, here's one of the images of the bald eagles that we've been seeing enroute home these past couple mornings. This one was from yesterday.

There were 5 eagles in this tree at one point, 2 adults and 3 juveniles, (assume it was parents and youngsters) but we didn't have camera with us at that point, so went home to get it and ret'd to find just this one left there.

many thanks Beverly and Anne for the nice comments, and thanks Anne for the kind words of caring on the Message board.

We do feel really fortunate to see so much wonderful wildlife like this, flying free in our area, Beverly. From what I've seen of photos of captive eagles, they seem to look so forlorn compared to how noble and "free" they look in the wild, as they should be. But realize that sometimes, after an injury, they cannot be released.

"The back of me head to you!, he says, twists his head just a little and gives you a great shot. And this one IS a great picture, for sure! Oh, how Very Well Done!!

How wonderful that you get to see these magnificent birds in the wild - I have only seen them in captivity. Nice shot.

thankyou so much for the kind and encouraging comments, everyone, - Mary, Steve, Don and Johnnyo. This eagle was about 70 feet up in the tree, so DH says (am not a very good judge of height myself :) But we were pleased, as that is closer than we've seen them perched in the past, and quite often they fly off when they see the camera/lens. But these didn't seem concerned.

Johnnyo- the lens is a Canon 100-400L, IS USM, and camera was set on "sports" mode.

You really are fortunate to be able to see such wonderful birdlife. Great shot, what lens did you use to get the close up?

Beautiful eagle capture Alandra! Great work. Your lungs may not be in peak shape right now. But your eye and trigger finger sure are 100% OK! :-) Good Luck and get well soon! Don

So great to see one of your "hospital trip" photos here, Alandra. And what an image it is! You certainly haven't lost any of your shooting skills.

Thanks for sharing it here, and for proving that even the most horrible circumstances can be turned to advantage! You have such fighting spirit, and we all admire you for it.

Lovely capture of the Eagle...can even see the iris in the eye. How far away were you? Now you have something to look forward to on your trips to the hospital. :)
