Stone Markers - Inukshuk - Cairn

Stone Markers - Inukshuk - CairnThese stone markers, or Cairns, are very prevalent here, at the top of Dalsnibba, Gerainger Fjord, Norway.
I think that every tourist who visits here, tries to leave a marker made by themselves.
There is often snow covering the mountain top, even in summer, which is when we visited.
I have been told by a friend of mine, that these stone markers are called Inukshuk by the Canadians and I have found out that they may have been used for navigation, as a point of reference or as a marker for hunting grounds, in the past.
