Crab Spider Hunting in Spruce Tree

Crab spider, Misumena vatia, lurking among the needles of a blue spruce. Note the light green color of this particular spider. This species is more commonly white or yellow.

Hi, Carol,

Yes, they can change color, but not as easily or as much as something like, say, a chameleon. For the spider it may take several days or more for a color change to occur, and the colors are primarily between white and yellow (though, I have found some very light or very pale green ones, too). I have a few pictures of the yellow ones and another light green one posted among my pictures. They can blend in very well with the right background.
