Canvasback Shuffle 2

Just experimenting with a possible entry in the camera club monthly special effects category. This is a layered shot of 2 photos, converted to look like an oil painting. I would like some opinions from the group. Thanks for any input/criticism, love it hate it type responses. Thanks for looking. Don

Thanks Bruce. I might try a few picels for an eye and see how it looks. The frame was for the tiny 500 pixel LF version only :-). And I agree. Thanks again. Don

Very nice! Since you asked, I agree that the white corner could be toned down, but the overall contrast and brightness sets a nice mood for the image as-is. Maybe clone in a few pixels of white or gray to highlight the duck's eye? And (just my personal preference), I find the frame a bit jolting, it draws the eye away from the image.

Don I think your photo is wonderful as it is. Mary and Whittler have a interesting and helpful comments though.

Great work Don,although the duck does look a bit dark.It would be awesome if you could lighten it enough to show his eye.

Nice capture, Don.

Hi Don it is a fantastic shot, I too find the colors could be a little more alive and like it was mentioned that little white spot on the bottom left is a bit disturbing, but otherwise it's perfect.

Awesome photo with the effects, it surely does look like Oil painting.I think Marys right about removing the white in left side of photo.I think it will be a winner for sure.

Awesome Shot! I really like this effect. All it needs is to bump the color up a bit add a bit of contrast. Other than that you got it man!

Don, the size of the Canvasback looks ok to me. I keep looking at it and it doesn't look out of proportion. You could play around with resizing it and compare the photos. You knowing what the lake looks like and the original photos might influence how you see it.

Thanks Mary! Yes it is bright sky reflection in the lower left. I hadn't really paid much attention to it, but you are right, it does break up the frame a bit. I'll experiment with taking it out. Thanks again for the help! Another thing that bothers me some about this piece. Knowing the size of the lake and distance across the water, the canvasback is not sized correctly and should be smaller if he was actually in that position. I don't know if that is apparent to someone not knowing the distance or not? Thanks again. Don

Beautiful photo and colors. The white area on the lower left side is a little distracting to me...it is probably a little bit of sky reflection but it seems to break up the frame.
