Emerging Skunk Cabbage

A pair of skunk cabbage flowers, intertwining gracefully. Yes, they do smell like a skunk. They are among the earliest wildflowers to appear in the spring. Photographed in Western NY State in early April. (Note the spider on the base of the plant on the right).
