Sarlat-la-Canéda

Sarlat-la-Canéda is one of the best known towns in the Dordogne. Here I've captured it as the setting sun catches the main square.

So beautiful how the sunlight lit up the buildings and and also there were some shadows there for contrast. I loved the spear of light in the foreground. And, really - all of it!! A wonderful picture.

Steve this is beautiful. the different shapes and lines add alot of interest. I usually like trees and flowers around but this scene is just as beautiful without them

Thanks, Mary and Jas, for your generous comments. The architecture in this town is wonderfully preserved, and it's really like going back in time.

Wonderful architecture here. I like the different levels of the roof tops and the varying shapes within the buildings and, yes, the lighting and the shadows of the evening sun add a bit more interest to the whole image.
