Rufous Hummingbird Bathing

Rufous hummingbird bathing at our front patio waterway. This little fella has been so elusive, - he veers off, away from landing at the feeder, if he sees me at the window, - so am very pleased to have finally captured a photo of him! Especially one with his beautiful golden/red thoat feathers (gorget) displayed like this.

thanks very much Anne, am happy you enjoy these so much. This little fella was very elusive, compared to the females, but I finally captured a few images of him. Haven't seen him around here for sometime tho'.

This is rare to see a hummingbird just sitting there. Such a beautiful little bird gives you a special lift for your day.

many thanks Alex and Mary in Kent. Am quite happy about finally "capturing" this little fellow. He was moving his wings, which is why they arent as clear as rest of photo.

thanks Fella, - I know, re the big ones : ) - it gets addictive, right, - hubby asked me if I wanted to go get some eagle and heron shots today, but I wanted to go see if the owls were around. no luck. Not sure where they've gone to, but it might be something to do with the eagle nest in that owl area. Look forward to seeing your latest eagle shots

thanks very much, Mary in Pa and Beverly. glad you like it. It's hard to capture them with their gorgets showing the iridescence. Quite often it shows up as "black" if the lighting doesnt reflect just right.

Good capture and exposure. The catchlight in his eye helps make the picture.

Gorgeous capture. Glad you were able to photo him. The colors are just beautiful.
