Riding High At The Rodeo

A action shot from the 2003 Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. It was a very warm day and to make it warmer we had seats in the sun. That was ok, there was plenty of room to walk around and take photos. You could even find some shade now and then.

Hi Ann, Thanks for your really nice comment :) I'm glad you liked my ride-em cowboy photo. I don't get to many rodeos as you can tell by the date.

Hi Robyn, I'm glad you liked my photo. I was up about 20 feet or so, I really don't remember. I was wondering around the seats taking photos. The horse was bucking to a perfect beat making it easy to catch them in the air. The horse was going up and down more than moving forward, that helped a lot...

Very nice! I love this. The horse looks like he just exploded into the air.

Were you sitting up high?

Hi Kirsty,

I think the way animals are treated changes from different country's. At this rodeo in Cheyenne the horses, and bulls were only ridden once maybe twice the whole day. They take very good care of there animals, they also are not cheap to purchase and feed along with medical records and shots kept up to date.

From what I have seen at rodeos, the cowboys and clowns end up getting the worst of things.

This is just my views and sorry you feel rodeos are hard on the animals..

Its a good shot but I find this sport very cruel you should see the horses afterward!

All I can say is WOW!!

Thanks everyone for all your very nice comments. Rodeo shots are really not very hard. The horses jump with a beat so timing is not very hard.. Now bulls are another story.
