River Mimram at Hoo Park, Whitwell, Hertfordshire

River Mimram at Hoo Park, Whitwell, HertfordshireThe River Mimram flows through Hertfordshire in a north-west to south-east direction for about twenty miles before joining the Rivers Beane and Lea at Hertford. In its upper reaches it provided watercress for the hotel tables of London, delivered by trains along now uprooted tracks. Although it is only just over a month since I cycled out there it already seems an age ago, possibly because summer visited us for a couple of weeks in the meantime, sending scenes like this into memories.
