Down the Long mile
Down the Long mileTHe Long mile road is the only way into the Redwood Grove. Most of the trees on the right hand side as you drive/walk/cycle/ride through are deciduous and show a wonderful autumnal colouring. The trees on the left are mainly pinus Radiata.
The Redwoods is part of the Whakarewarewa Forest and this section was used by the FRI(Forest Research Institute) for testing new tree types/ species etc
