Thanks for letting me know the plant species. This was taken at the Secrest Arboretum. The trees and bush species are marked with a metal plaque, but the flowers, for the most part, are not!

Linda, Such a very nice image these flowers are called 'Aquilegia' and are also known as 'Columbine'. An old-fashioned plant which has produced many excellent varieties in recent years, they are a border perennal which means that they will come back each year.

I wish I knew the names of all these flowers I photograph at the OARDC. There are name labels in front of the trees and bushes, but not many flower species are labeled in the Arboretum.
