Thanks for the comment. I did not know they had a particular sound. I knew they were nocturnal. This one was leaving a ditch where it had just drunk some water. I guess it was more thirsty then hungry.

I'm surprised you saw the possum in the day as they're nocturnal. Perhaps it was unwell or unsettled by something. They're a 'noxious pest' in NZ, but I think they're rather lovely and like listening to them in the hedge behind our house.
