Pitcher Plants

White-topped pitcher plants, Sarracenia leucophylla, in Weeks Bay bog, Baldwin County AL. These are actually modified leaves, the pitchers. The brilliant crimson flowers had just bloomed and were languishing.

Not so long ago, Evelyn, they were very common in boggy areas in the Southeast. Nowadays, with so much suburban sprawl, they've become relatively rare.(A carnivorous plant)
