Hi again Fella, getting back to the owls ids, lol -- believe the one in our area is a Barred Owl, as it has the brown eyes. It has been visiting our front garden area recently, and I posted some pics here of it. It was perched on the wire twice, above our front lawn. We saw it once at night, and the next time earlier. Haven't seen it here since tho'.

well, have finally found my version of the spotted owl (on my gallery) and guess it really IS a spotted owl? : ) as it has the yellow beak etc. We heard on tv how few there are of these, so I was going to contact the Wildlife people to tell them about the one near us. Maybe I should, as DH saw it again in the same small woods a few days ago. It's on page 20 if you want to check.

Not a spotted either. They have dark eyes, yellow beak and the bars on the chest run side to side not up and down.

My guess would be Short eared owl.
