A closer view of one of the lamps in the faux-norman doorway. A good example of the "arts and crafts" movement which was closely aligned with the neo-gothic in architecture.

You have taken a handsome photograph of this striking lantern. Wonderful textures in this photograph. Architecture is

so interesting. Especially that of older buildings.

Thanks Alandra! Yes there are limits to this vertical correcting malarkey! Sometimes of course it is pincushion or barrel distortion in the lens itself, rather than the optical axis not being horizontal, that causes wonky lines, and that can't be corrected with perspective correcting software.

It's also a mistake to leave an uncorrected vertical so close to the edge of the frame that its imperfection is so obvious!! :)

great to see the detail, but have to admit that am relieved to see that you also got a bit of a "lean" in that one wall edge, Steve :) I tried and tried with an image, to "straighten" pillars in the mall yesterday, lol, and could get one straight, but not the other :) so gave up.

Thank you Beverly. I did think this lamp deserved its own picture, as you are right that otherwise it got rather lost amongst all the other decoration.

Nice image - you did a good job in isolating this from the building.

Thanks Tania. Yes, the age of such elaborate decoration is long gone!

Steve I love the detail in this photo. The wrought iron with the stone work is beautiful. Our buildings are so plain compared to this
