Thank you both, Carol and Alandra. Gary's right - it's a truly beautiful area to explore - hopefully I'll get that way again - this summer it's beginning to look like Pennsylvania may be calling us!

would love to go there after reading your descriptions, Gary and Vicki. Love Ponderosa pines, we had a huge one on some property at Birch Bay, WA that we owned for a short time, years ago. I think I was sorriest about losing the tree more than losing the property and house : )

The darkness set in so fast that I could only tell by my headlights that it was an area I would want to return to - I saw many tent camping areas on my way to the bridge - not a great area to bring more than a 25 foot or so (lightweight) RV through. I didn't know that about the Ponderosa pines - I'll be back for sure! Thank you for all your great info, Gary.

As soon as you get across the Salt River Bridge, you are on Apache Indian land. You are also entering the largest Ponderosa Pine forest in the world. I've camped out up there. Beautiful place.

Thanks Gary - up east beyond Mesa on 60, right? I thought it was part of the Superstitions. It is beautiful - then you keep going til you get to my other photo by Salt River. That's where I ran out of daylight - after stopping to take pics every mile or two til I got there! I have to return to get photos on the other side of the bridge and up!

You're probably right, Vicki. I was fairly near there today. It sure is beautiful out there.
