N gauge model railway (scale 1:160) locomotive and wagons passing the base of Mt Somnus on my Maitai Valley Railway. The layout is in a room 28 feet long and 15 feet wide. The ceiling is lined and the walls are covered with plywood which I have painted in acrylics to create a backscene. I am able to walk right around the layout between the trains and the backscene to enable me to re-rail any trains that derail or to work on any areas that need repair. The scenery is constructed from plaster of Paris bandages draped over formers and then re-plastered and painted with acrylic paints.
