Mount Ruapahu

Mount Ruapahu is in the middle of the north Island, New Zealand. I can see it where I live on the western coast when there is a good day. It can also been seen from the eastern coast on a good day. It has great ski fields and social events.

That's one dramatic mountain Tania, and you've captured it perfectly.

This mountain reminds me of Murray because it is so cold and pointy. Don't worry Murray I don't kiss and tell.

Hi Murray. Sorry I offend you and anyone else. it was not my intention to offend anyone or make it seem that our Magnificent Mount Ruapehu is any less. I am in orr of this mountain. Its size, beauty and changing weather and activity comands respect. I have changed what I can for this title

It is important that such a magnificent mountain be named correctly.

The mountain is Mt Ruapehu in the North Island of New Zealand

Wow!, I said...WOW!

Just a great mountain landscape and so photogenic. I love the way the clouds settle in different elevations. Makes me wish I was there.

Hi Mel

Yes Deb has seen this photo thanks. We may have met at lulu and Micheals wedding. It is nice to place you, and meet you. I thought you may have been from the bay with some of your great photos.

Im not doing any shooting at the moment, my Camera is at the Doctors :-( . It has spots which dont go well with the end product. They have had it for 2 weeks. Im going through Detox and it is not nice.

Hi Tania,

This is a beatiful shot - Have you been in touch with Deborah? I'm sure Deborah would love to add this photo to her site.

I too have some photo's of Mt Ruapehu taken from National Park on my gallery. I love your close up shot though.

I too live in Hawkes Bay - Lulu and Meridianz (Shirree) are my cousins. Great to see so many NZ shots - Keep it up.

Lulu when we lived in Hawkes Bay we could see Te Mata Peak from home. February 4 10 years ago we had a BBQ dinner for Deans birthday. Our floor show was a storm over Te Mata Peak. The sky over us was clear. We watched lightning hitting the Peak and shooting up higher in the sky than the clouds and across the clouds. We stayed watching until about 2 in the morning. The next day the storm was mentioned on the news saying it had snowed right up to the ocean. Those who know this area knows it doesnt snow especially in the hot summers. the lightning storm was spectacular and lasted for hours. Wish I had taken photos.

I saw what could have been a shot similar to this one morning. It was of Te Mata Peak lying on a pillow of clouds. For all those that don't know, Te Mata Peak is a range of hills that resemble a giant lying down. There is a maori legend that goes with it. Anyway, I never had my camera so missed out on that opportunity. This photo of Mt Ruapehu is brilliant! Looks like it was a great ski season. Pity its a few hours away - it reminds me of our holiday at christmas.

Yes I have heard that to we are very lucky with scenery it changes so radically with beauty in everything around us.

this is a great shot. thought I'd commented last nite, but went to check your camera online, then forgot to return to pic : )

I've got friends in NZ, one came to British Columbia, Canada to visit several years ago, and she thought that NZ resembles BC in many ways, scenery wise, and have heard this from other people who have visited NZ also
