Natures Evening Show

We had another great lightning storm pass through Golden Valley, Arizona. Yep I was out in the yard snapping away. It started raining on me and the lightning was getting a little too close for comfort, so I moved to the doorway of our house and kept on shooting. It did not matter what direction you pointed the camera, lightning was going off everywhere. It was a awesome show with the sun setting, rain coming down on the mountains and valley, and all of the lightning. If you look close you can see the outline of my neighbors home. The lightning was hitting at the base of the mountains that are around ten miles away. I was really happy when this photo was picked as a Approvers Choice at http://www.wunderground.com/

Hi Anne, Thanks very much for your wonderful comment. Your description made me look at this photo again, you make it sound so nice LOL.. I don't know what to say, lightning just does not scare me. I really like the lightning and thunder.

Wow!! Those streaks look as if they mean business!! A great purple cloud spreading down from the sky - or so it seemed, was lovely shade. I liked the orange light on both sides of the picture also and how it illumined the trees. You were very courageous being that close to the lightning. Wow! Those streaks were scarey.

Hi Ann, Thanks so much for your very kind comment on my photo. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I did forget to add that I used my tripod and set the focus on manual and set to infinity. Taking lightning is really pretty easy, give it a try sometime.

Thanks Craig :) I love watching lightning and photographing it. For some reason lightning does not scare me, much lol..

Hey Carol, lol you and Lucky are like my dog Spud, when the thunder starts Spud runs under my computer table and stays there until the thunder stops. You just keep taking the great hummingbirds and I will work on the lightning :)

Hi Alan, noway am I going to take lightning shots, probably my odds would be the first shot I tried.

My dog lucky and I both just sit away from windows and wait for the storm to pass.

Im just not a gambler.LOL

This lightning photo has a lot of drama, especially with the rain pouring to the left. It almost looks like a tornado.
