Protozoic Death

Protozoic DeathThis was a grisly scene being played out in a drop of pond water. Here we see a Stentor igneus in its death throes as countless bacteria are arriving on the scene to feat upon what will soon come their way when the Stentor's cell wall bursts. Interesting to note that moments prior to the taking of this picture, the Stentor was feeding upon the very same creatures who will soon feed upon it. The food chain at it's early level.
