Oh yes, I see what you mean about them being really cute. Yes, Flame tends to like birds similar to these but they are yellow. I think they are finches of some sort but not like the ones people keep in cages. There are dozens of them hanging around at the orchard my sister lives on also (Flame would have a field day there) but we both live rurally so I don't know if they are seen as much in town. I have lost count of how many of these I have rescued from both my cats jaws. Its sad you weren't as lucky with your cat. These particular birds seem to be really good at "playing" dead though and then fly off.

very cute pair. they might be looking for a place to build a nest to raise young. My parents had hanging baskets on their apartment balcony years ago, and a house finch built a nest and raised their babies in that. this was at North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
