Windmill Lighthouse

This structure is located, overlooking the St. Lawrence River just outside of Prescott Ontario. It was originally built in the 1820's as a windmill and was used as such for about 50 years. In the 1870's it was converted to a lighthouse which was operational until 1978.

The lands that it sits on is a national Historic Site, the scene of a battle in 1838 that is known as the "Battle of the Windmill.

Great history and a wonderful light, Ross. I'm a lighthouse fiend and have never seen images of this one before. Is it climbable? Vicki
