Laughlin River Run 2009

This is just one of around "60 Thousand" bikers that are invading Laughlin, Nevada and all of the towns near by. This weekend in Kingman, Arizona they will be in every gas station, store, motels, and every pullout along the roads. They are everywhere you look. This guy was coming from Laughlin, going through Golden Valley, Arizona where I live, and heading to Kingman. I was panning my camera because they are going by at 55mph. If you do a search for Laughlin River Run you can read all about this very large five day event.

Hi Alex, Thanks very much, I'm glad you liked my photo. I hear ya about the shutter speed, I have done that before and just flat forgot about the slower speed. It would have been better with a blurrier background and the bikes wheels spinning. I'm off now to take some car shows and get more bike shots. I will remember to change the shutter today :) and back again for the still shots... I wish you could be here too, it's a lot more fun taking photos with another photo nut.

Nice shot, nice bike. Wish I was there. I'm sure you will have plenty of subjects and many great shots from this weekend.

Try setting your shutter speed around 1/40th or 1/50th/sec when you do your panning next time and grab some of those bikers on the move with the really blurred background. If your panning is steady and the bike is moving slow enough you should come away with some great speedster shots.

What fun!

Hi Beverly, Alandra, Alex, and carol :) Thanks so much for all of your wonderful comments.. It's nice to know you enjoyed it :) Being about 80 feet from the road and using my critter hunting lens made it a little easier to follow them.
