thanks also, Mary and Alex. Alex, yeah, - at one point there was something in the visor flapping on my head, a sheet of paper that I'd stashed there earlier,- got annoyed at that point, LoL - always so "organized" not.

Well done shot Alandra. My eye is directed right to the head and iris of the birds eye....:)

thanks Evelyn. quite often these herons fly away as soon as they see us stopping nearby, - that happened yesterday also. but for some reason, this one stayed where it was, - I didn't get out of the SUV, just shot this thru the open window (doing lots of contortions, twisting the opposite way in the seat lol)

What a great closeup of the fine bird. I have a few photos of these birds but none so close.

thanks also, Golda, somehow missed yours just now. Agree about words. Another one that a friend (also from England) mentioned years ago, is "hedgerow", - that's a nice word too, as well as Coppice or copse,as we used to say, when referring to a small wooded area.

thanks everyone, Janice, Carol, Steve & Don. Speaking of "brambles", Don, - guess that's my Brit heritage showing thru :) as I was born in England and lived there til 12 years old and recall going blackberry picking with my maternal grandma and coming home scratched to bits, purple fingers and lips :) but happy as all get out, with the bounty we'd gathered. Then it was blackberry & apple deep dish pies, and blackberry & apple jam- such a wonderful combination of flavours.

Very pretty Heron capture Alandra!

Just thinking about something. We don't use the word bramble down here. You rarely hear it, and it is such a nice word. Odd thing isn't it? Don
