Red Tailed Hawk

Red Tailed HawkAn immature red tailed hawk in its light phase. (At least that's what I gather from the birding books on hand). He was resting down by the SF Bay on a light pole.
It is not uncommon to see these beautiful birds circling overhead out in the country around Northern Californa, but I have never seen one in a relatively urban environment before.
The one claw he is holding in the air upon close inspection appears to have blood on it. I believe the blood must have been from some prey, because in outtakes, the claw itself does not appear injured.
