Graveyard at Night

We were caught in a traffic jam right next to the American Cemetery in Natchitoches, Louisiana. I decided to get out and take a night shot of the grave yard. It was interesting. I felt like Tom Sawyer. This was a way different feeling then at the Metairie Cemetery.

Interesting photo and subject, Dud. It's a good night shot. I'd sure like to see the other photo.

I did not see this comment until today. I think all are entitled to their opinion. That is why my my son fought for the country from which I come.

That sounds interesting to me. I do not believe I have much to fear in the small towns but in the big cities perhaps I would.

Likely a server lag caused the posts to flip flop..

I was going to make another comment to your last post, saying that public cemeteries wont sue you if you take photographs in them, nor will family members of the interred. Nothing in there is "copyrighted" to the best of my knowledge. All you'd need to do is obtain permission to shoot after dark, and that usually comes from the land owners and the local law enforcement officials, which is very easy to do but does require some sort of credential, often your show of gear is enough. They're more concerned about your safety and vandalism than anything else. Myabe if people are interested, we can post articles in the forum about this, based on our own experiences...

It is strange how the notes came out. My reply to Solaria came out before her comment to me.

Thanks. I just had my Olympus D380 on automatic and had no difficulties in taking the picture. I did take one other picture in the Cemetery but the name came out on it and I did not ask permission of the cemetery people so I did not want to be sued. A third picture appeared on the camera and I am actually a little afraid to share that one due to me not having remembered how I took it. How does one ask permission from an entity? I know the cemetery could have given me permission but I was leaving early the next day.

The red over-tone is interesting. It makes me want to ask about settings, and flash functions, and if you had problems with your electronic equipment while shooting there. Once upon a time, I used to do paranormal research in FL, in some of the oldest cemeteries around. Seeing a photo like this makes me smile and reminds me of the "good ole days" so to speak. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks. I feel something drawing me to this shot every time I look at it. It may be unprofessional for me to feel this way about my own picture but I do.

Very unusual shot! And, let me tell you, it has some mystery ...I like it.
