What is the scientific name for the yellow poppies you pictured above?

Are they about 12 " high with a single flower? I have had them and they used to spread but ground cover has taken over and it is really hard to save them.

If I knew what to get it would be easier to get poppy seed rather than try to pull out all the dense ground cover. Thanks for your reply. Anne
