This is a creative idea and possibilities are virtually limitless in Photoshop. Remember the human eye sees shades of color very accurately, even very subtle differences, but not so with shades of gray. When you convert to b&w (either film or digital) you have to increase the brightness and contrast to compensate for the loss. This will be more effective if you increase the brightness and contrast about 10%.
