Desolation Lake

The emerald beauty of Desolation Lake, formed by melting snow, is a great destination for a day hike. Although it's really cold, there are many that jump in after hiking or biking the 3 1/2 miles to get here. Desolation Lake is accessible from both Big Cottonwood and Milcreek Canyons near SLC, Utah.
