Joshua Trees

These are Joshua Trees next to a truck stop in Kingman, Arizona. Taken at night using the buildings bright lights, and a three second shutter speed. The yellow tops are blooms. The Joshua's can go for years without rain, they get most of there moisture from the air. The smaller cactus are Spanish Daggers, they have nice sharp points on the end of each branch?

Hi Alandra, Thanks for the nice comment.. I'm glad you enjoyed my photo and that you got to see something new. I hope you get to visit Arizona some time to see all of the desert plants and creatures. July is a great time to visit with it getting nice and warm. Today our cold temp was 78 with a high today of 105, tomorrow it gets warmer LOL..

agreeing with the others' comments, Alan. Have also never seen a Joshua tree either, so seeing the images are interesting. I hope someday to visit Arizona to see all the different looking plant life etc. DH has lived there, as have mentioned before.

Hi Alex, Vicki, and Anne. Thanks so much for your wonderful comments. Hey Alex and Vicki sorry about the really late reply 2 years late... Alex the Joshua trees are like a cactus and look the same all year round. These trees grow around twenty feet tall and can go without water for years. They mostly get there moisture from the air. Hey Vicky glad you enjoyed this photo. I like long exposures and the effects you can get. Hi Anne, I'm really glad you got to see the Joshua's they are like half cactus and tree. I'll try to take some more photos of them during the day so you can really see how they look.

How wonderful!! I had never seen a Joshua tree and always wondered what they look like. I didn't realize they were not tall trees. The bright green at bottom really brightens up the whole scene, which has a different type beauty but is very appealing - to me.
