Karen I have a nice bird book and I just put this butterfly book on a Xmas wish list of mine.

Lorraine,a lot of the butterflies here are getting very tattered wings too.I still take as many photos of them I can because I know winter will be here to soon.

According to my Butterflies of North America, this is a male Monarch. This Field Guide is by Kaufman and Brock and I recently bought it on Amazon. It really helps for identification.
