Hunt For Red October

Closeup of Heron hunting on an October morning on Lake Logan. The red leaves reflecting made an interesting background I thought. Thanks for looking, Don

The title grabbed my attention having read the book and watched the movie by this title/

Incidentally this is another wonderful photo.

Thanks Carol and Vicki, haha, yes Vicki it does get your goat. And he was on the hunt, he snatched a fish right when I was in the process of moving to get another angle....lol. But as low as the lighting was it probably would have been a blurry shot with the dime store, slow lens I have...must get an L....must get an L :-) Don

Doug asked the question I had too, Don. It's a great image even without the full reflection. Doesn't it get your goat when you take multiple images and JUST miss the full shot you were after - I've done it way too often! To be in the water this deep, this fella had something in its sights!

Thanks guys, he actually was walking and not swimming. He ventured out to an area that was getting a little deep. Doug, I never did get a clean reflection of his head for some reason. It just wasn't to be, in all the pics I took it was distorted. I hinged on cropping it out of this one, but did to make the heron larger in the little LF pic. Thanks again, Don

great capture of the heron, Don, and lovely colour it is also. Have never seen one wading in that deep water. Infact around here I don't often get the chance to see herons in "open" water.

Nice shot of the blue Heron. I never seen one swim. Looks as if he is walking.

This is very colorful and nicely done. Did you get any with the Heron's full reflection?
