Lutino Cockatiel

This inquisitive little fellow was wondering if I was going to share some seeds with him. Of course, I did but not until I took a couple of pictures. I think albino cockatiels are some of the prettiest birds around. This picture was taken at Hogle Zoo in their bird exhibit.

I prefer to not clip the wings mainly becuase I'd be really pissed if I was a bird and somebody clipped mine, but everybody has their own opinion about this. If you feel the bird is flying around your house too much, then clipping might be a good idea. The bigger the cage, the better so that your bird has more room to move around. If you have the room and can afford it, I'd suggest getting one that's big enough that your bird will have to actually fly to reach different branches, sticks, and perches.

I have recently got a bird similar to the one shown above. I am not sure of its food habbits and how big the cage should be. Should I clip the wings ? Would be helpfull if anyone could guide me on these.

It takes a lot of patience to teach them to talk. Some people use tapes or CDs that repeat sounds over and over, but I enjoyed teaching them myself. My buddy Ogre can say a bunch of things like "Pretty Bird", "Hello Ogre", "Here Kitty Kitty Kitty", "Whatcha Doing?", he clucks like he's calling a cat, whistles whoot-woo, does the whistle that my mom would use to call us from the neighbors, of course my pathetic whistle that I mentioned before, and a few other things.

They're just like little kids in regards to the fact that they are always trying to get your attention and they are great at making a huge mess.

I'm not sure - This was a friendly bird that I met at the zoo. Perhaps one of our experienced birders could tell us?

Thanks for clarifying that it's a lutino instead of an albino. I've changed the name of title to reflect the real type of bird.
