I'm glad it is not an escapee. It would never survive your winter. I got some shots of an aqua colored parakeet that was running with the sparrows. It disappeared after a couple weeks. A cat probably got it. It was too wild to be enticed by a human.

The bird was free flying at the Aviary and is ok. I just wanted to know the name of the species so I could title it instead of "colorful bird". Sorry if I misled you, I didn't mean to, but thanks for the concern.

This definitely is a conure. I would take this photo to a pet store that deals in birds and they should be able to identify it for you. Conures are small parrots that come in many colors.

That is definitely a parrot of some type, perhaps in the conure family, and I'm sure it escaped its cage. I'll see if I can ID it for you. You might set up a cage with sunflowers or peanuts to attract it.

dont know the type Mary, sorry, but it looks like some type of "cage bird" or someone's pet bird that has escaped and become lost. Am sure it's not a wild bird from your area, is what I mean. Is anyone advertising in a local paper for a bird in the "lost" columns? or perhaps the local vets would know if someone's lost this bird. just some thoughts.
