Your comments are appreciated and I like your questions :) FIrstly, the background is a piece of bright yellow cardboard and if you look closely you'll see the cardboard stripes. Desaturation took the yellow out but left a soft yellowish tone, as b&W seemed too harsh. I first tried disguising the cardboard background with a heavy blur but decided I liked the stripes once the border was added. The lens is the camera's standard 18-55mm lens. My main challenge was to take the shot without getting flare from the crystal.
