Baby Dove on My Window

: Baby Dove on My Window; Well sort of bad news. I couldnt see the baby doves in their next, but lo and behold I looked out my brothers bedroom window and it was on the window sill. I think the parents desserted him. I am waiting for a wildlife shelter to tell me what to do. At one time tho this afternoon the parents came by and one parent interlocked beaks and kept pulling. Was it feeding him or helping him fly? The one baby is only 3 days old. The nest is in the building across the way. He is not in the nest. He is on my windowsill. not my neighbors. Is this normal? is he abandoned?

As the babies get older, (usually in the last week before they the squabs fly) the parents spend more time away from the nest, often for several hours at a time. They ususally return for feeding and then off again for several hours. Chances are this young one is not abandoned.

was reading in a bird book yesterday, that one parent bird tends the babies in the morning and the other parent takes over in the evenings.
