Taking a Break

This unusual diving bird has one surprising shortcoming - its wings are NOT waterproof. After it dives it fans out its wings to dry them off before diving again

Thank you, dear friend. We've had some wonderful evening lighting down here - this was almost missed in the walk I was taking.

Hi May - this is an Ahnhinga - there were several in the area, but I rather liked how this one gave me a nice reflection pose in the early evening light! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I can't see whether this is an ahnhinga or a cormorant, Vicki, but it is a beautiful piece. The water is so glassy. I love when it looks like that.
