Thank you for the great comment Ann,that scarlet tanager only stops here a few times in the spring so far.I would like to have him build a nest and stay here.

I still think this is such a very beautiful picture!!! Those huge rocks! The captured pool, the beautiful green lily and the lovely scarlet tanager and its reflection! Love it.

Thanks for the comment Rebecca,I guess all you can do,is watch and wait. They will surely come when you are of guard. They don't seem to show themselves very often.

Thanks for the comment Kim,I'm glad you enjoyed it.If you keep feeding them, they will keep coming back for you.

I love that photo. I saw my first Scarlet Tanger ever! It was on the ground near my pool, which is still covered for the winter it was eating. Wow I hope it sticks around. I have a mated pair of Cardinals, some Orioles, American Gold Finches lots of them, Rose Breasted Grosbeak, Plieated Woodpecker, Hairy Woodpecker just to name a few. I have been feeding "my" birds for two years and have been greatly rewarded.

A quietness fills this lovely scene. Serenity - a sheltered nook, a quiet place with rocks for strength, the bright scarlet tanager and the green plant - contrast and add to the picture, while the blue stone lends a bit of the sky. You have given us a lovely picture to share with you. Thank you. A beautiful bird bath. *g*

This would be a nice photo without the bird, but the bird just makes it a couple of steps better.

Oreoles love citrus - cut an orange in half and hang it outside . This Scarlet Tanager is a beautiful photo - what a lovely pond.

Thanks for the comments Mary and Alandra,I'm glad you enjoyed it.We have seen a couple new birds here recently, this scarlet Tanger and an oreole. I have been waiting to get a better shot of the oreole, but haven't sen him for a couple days.

meant to say also, what a great shot this is, of the whole setting. No wonder the birds are visiting already.

OH, lucky you guys! we don't get those tanagers here, wish we did. We don't get the bright red birds, not the cardinals nor the tanagers. I'll send over some eagles and you can send us some of these guys : ) Did you get these tanagers in your garden before you had the pond?

The word is out...your yard is the place to visit...food and water. Beautiful shot of this bird.
