To take your question a bit more seriously, Mary (!), I think most Brits would think of the 1800's as "Victorian", and not really as old, but rather we'd call it "period" as in "a period house". For us, old doesn't really kick in until we're talking medieval or older. So say, 400-500 years upwards!
