Original Fresnel Lens from the first Cape Hatteras Light Station

This one is for true lighthouse buffs. A new museum devoted to Atlantic ocean shipwrecks along the Outer Banks of North Carolina has placed this treasure as a showcase feature.

Most of the prisms from the Fresnel lens are gone - but this artifact was lost for over 90 years - even travelling overseas for various exhibits, before it's location came to the museum's attention, including the proof that this was indeed the original light frame AND railing, from the very first Cape Hatteras Light Station which was torn down over a hundred years ago when the new one (moved 2,900 feet inland 6 years ago), was built to replace it.
