Angel Wings of the Heron

angel wings of the great blue heron, as he was lifting off from beside the road. I think this is my favourite capture of my heron shots so far.

Also like the wild flowers and grasses here

my pleasure, Beverly. Yes, Anne is a lovely lady. Have lost touch a bit lately, due to not being on IM, - having a hard time keeping up :)

Thankyou, Vicki for the nice comments. I've had the lens since last winter, but I do love it. It's hardly ever off the camera : )

thankyou, Beverly. You asked about Anne from West Virginia. I "met" Anne on a "book list", and as far as I know, she doesn't have a gallery here, but just loves the nature photos : )

Meant to ask you before - do you know if Anne from W. Va. has a gallery and under what name?

that's really nice of you, Karen, thankyou for the nice & generous comments, much appreciated : ) Am really very sorry to hear about the accident with your telephoto lens! Can very well understand how you'd feel, depressing to say the least! This is one reason why I hesitate to use a tripod, as it always seems to me that this could so easily happen, and now you've confirmed this for me! Have you contacted the tripod manufacturers about the way the tripod failed to support the camera?? I hope something can be done about this to your satisfaction. It's upsetting just thinking about it.

Great wing detail. You have really captured amazing bird images with your new camera and lens. Well done. My 80-400 Nikon lens was damaged when the tripod head separated from the rest of the tripod while we were in Vancouver. I haven't taken it in for repairs yet. That was a depresing accident.

that's very nice of you, Alan, many thanks :) Glad you like it. Think it's the best heron shot I've captured so far.

Awesome photo Alandra!! Perfect timing catching the moment of liftoff and showing those large wings and feathers. The flowers add that nice touch of color and the blurry background makes him stand right out of my monitor. Great photo and really fun to view..

Beautifully done,Alandra. The most beautiful heron I have seen. The precise moment it was in its best pose, you captured it. Lovely.

many thanks, Carol, Don, Doug and Alex. I agree, Don, that for their size, the great blue herons are graceful. And Doug, yes, the lens is really nice, I love it.
