A Young Speedster

This is one of the Jr Dragsters driven by the young racers at the Kingman Street Drags 4. These dragsters are around half the size of the regular ones but they still get up and move really fast down the track. It's so nice to see the kids and there parents enjoying racing. When you look inside the helmets all you see is a great big smile, well until they line up to race then there all business..

Marathon Man

Picture of my husband (on the left) on his way to finishing 1st in his age group in the local Mountain to Surf Marathon in New Plymouth. And it means just that - they start the marathon on the slopes of Mount Egmont (see other pics) & end up at the sea. I'm usually the 'water girl' but on this day I had my camera. Where are the other people you ask? Well, let's just say he usually finishes in the top 20 so he's always with the front runners! lol It may not LOOK like he's going fast, but he's definitely going faster at the beginning than he is at the end! And this was near the beginning. It's a very picturesque marathon to run, you should come & try it. :o)

Blue Angels

Four of the US Navy's Blue Angels F-18s (I think there are seven total) making a turn in formation, practicing for an air show at Rochester, NY in 2004. There were a dozen or so of us watching on a hill a few miles south of the airport, I think they made a couple low altitude (and very loud) passes for our benefit. How cool can you get?!!

Lightning Bolt

A thunder shower came through our neighborhood this evening and I tried to catch a lightning shot for the first time and without a tripod. Since opposites attract,this positive charged lightning bolt is seeking out a negative ground in a split second.
