Treasure Hunt on The Lens Flare

As a fun spring event, we’ve decided to have a treasure hunt on The Lens Flare.

There are graphics of silver bars carefully placed on 2 different pages on the website, and the first person to find each one will win a free silver membership for a year.  If you already have a membership, it will be extended another 12 months.

To claim your prize, you’ll need to post a comment on this blog post with the address of the page with the graphic. The first person to post the correct page wins. There are 2 prizes total and each person may only win 1 prize.

You will need to be logged into the website in order to see the graphics, which look like a smaller version of this:

The treasure hunt has started and will go until the 2 pages are found.  If they haven’t been found after several days, I’ll start giving clues.

Good luck and have fun!

fun contest. How much smaller are the silver ingots that we’re looking for? thanks, Alandra

  2. azkul on: April 10th, 2009 at 7:42 pm

They are about 50 pixels wide.

  3. azkul on: April 11th, 2009 at 8:40 pm

Hint #1: In both cases, the treasure is located above “Random Images”.

  4. Horunny on: April 12th, 2009 at 12:22 am

    Good try Horunny :)

Chris, it wouldn’t be a challenge if I made it easy. :)

I’ll give another clue later on today.

Brian, I’m always up for any challenge that’s what life is all about.

  8. azkul on: April 12th, 2009 at 11:22 am

Hint #2: In both cases, the treasure is on pages with 500 pixel images on them; however one of them is 500px wide and the other is 500px tall.

  9. azkul on: April 12th, 2009 at 9:49 pm

The hints are getting more and more specific… but they’re still pretty vague so good luck :)

Hint #3: One of the pages contains an image that is mostly green, while the other has an image with a lot of white.

  10. azkul on: April 12th, 2009 at 9:51 pm

Anybody figure out the “Random Images” clue?

  11. Horunny on: April 12th, 2009 at 11:19 pm

    yes i have

  12. azkul on: April 13th, 2009 at 4:11 pm

Hint #4: One of the pages contains an image of a small animal. If I were in the vertical picture, I’d be cold.

  13. azkul on: April 14th, 2009 at 8:20 am

Hint #5: The little animal is a bird. The other picture is cold because of the snow.

  14. azkul on: April 16th, 2009 at 1:18 pm

At least one of the images is listed somewhere in the hot images section today.

  18. azkul on: April 17th, 2009 at 6:42 am

Nope. The silver bars are in the same position as the bird picture that Alfresco found.

  19. azkul on: April 17th, 2009 at 8:16 am

I’ve made the picture easier to find. I think somebody will find it today so just keep looking for a winter scene with trees covered in snow.

  20. azkul on: April 17th, 2009 at 3:35 pm

What’s the easiest way to to have a picture show up on the home page for more than 5 minutes? That’s what I did to make the winter picture easier to find.

  21. Alfresco on: April 17th, 2009 at 4:34 pm

    Thanks, Brian!

Found the other one too (but I’m not telling where);-). That last clue gave it away. Nice picture, I hadn’t seen it before.

  24. azkul on: April 18th, 2009 at 9:56 am

Grumpy, Nope. Sorry, that wasn’t it. The silver bars are not actually on the picture itself.

If you look at the birds picture that Alfresco found, you’ll see the silver bars near the bottom of the page. The silver bars on the one that hasn’t been found yet is in the same place.

  25. TMR8 on: April 19th, 2009 at 3:49 am

    a big congrats to Alfresco.

  26. azkul on: April 19th, 2009 at 8:20 am

Hmm… perhaps a comment was made recently on that picture?

  27. GRUMPY on: April 19th, 2009 at 11:17 am

    is this it?

Yep, Grumpy. That was the correct page. I’ve given you a free silver membership for a year.

The link you posted was for the picture, but the actual page is here:
