Wildlife Photography - baby robins in their nest

Baby Robins We have a 20 foot tall blue spruce in the backyard that’s about 20 feet from our back porch, which is raised off the ground about 10 feet.

This year, we’ve shared our tree with family of robins. My wife has been busy photographing the progress of the baby birds from eggs to where they’re at now… almost ready to fly away. Whenever possible, we’ve kept our distance to limit the amount that we’re disturbing the parents and their feeding habits.

It seems that both the mother and father robins take turns catching worms to feed the babies, and it’s really amazing watching mother nature work her magic in our backyard.

We don’t have a decent telephoto lens, so my brother let us borrow his. It’s a 200mm VR lens, which doesn’t zoom as close as we’d like, so we’re cropping the pictures a little. This way, we can shoot from the deck and not disturb the mother too badly.

Nature and wildlife photography is a great pasttime. For more images of the robins, please visit Jocelynne’s Robin Album.
